Gay Rodgers, class of 1966
Gay has been heavily involved with the Muckross PPU for over 25 years, and a familiar friendly face for so many past pupils. She is currently involved with the Muckross Adult Choir and a General Committee Member. Previously, Gay acted as PPU President for two terms 1999 - 2002 and 2008 - 2010. She was also Hon. Secretary for a number of years.
Highlights being on the PPU Committee: '' Everyone should have a hobby, one of mine has been the PPU. It has been a great way of keeping in touch with past pupils, not just my contemporaries but getting to know the older members over the years who have kept the Union supported over its 120 year existence. '' Having worked in banking for 31 years, Gay took the opportunity to take (very) early retirement in 2002, taking to freedom like a duck to water! Then she shocked all her friends by getting married in 2009! Tony and Gay have been having a fab time since.
Favourite Muckross memories: '' Hard to pick just one. Having refused to play hockey, much to the disgust of Sr Barnabas, I had to find somewhere to hide before each session. My favourite place was under the pile of coats and clothes dumped by everyone in the old pavilion in the back field. I could hear Barnie going around asking if anyone had seen me. I was in my 30s before I told her what I did.
